Swiss cyclo-cross series EKZ CrossTour takes things to a new level for the final race in Meilen on the 2nd of January 2016.
Meilen, 28th December 2015 – The final race of EKZ CrossTour will take place in Meilen at the lake of Zurich. Thanks to the new partnership with German bike brand FOCUS, which was established in 1992 by German bike legend and cyclo-cross world champion Mike Kluge, both UCI C1 races of the Elite Women and Elite Men will be broadcast live on the youtube channel of EKZ CrossTour. This is of great significance for both Swiss and international cyclo-cross.
Investment into the future
Christian Rocha, president of EKZ CrossTour, is proud to realize the livestream, „This is a really important step that we have worked towards for the the last two years. Starting from now we are taking things to the next level. This broadcast is an investment from us and our partners,” says Rocha. He wishes to thank to FOCUS, EKZ (the electricity company for the canton of Zurich) and the local organizer VC Meilen. “They believe in our ideas and we share the same beliefs: cyclo-cross must return onto TV in Switzerland!”
The livestream of the Elite Women’s and Elite Men’s races will begin 15 minutes before the start: 12:45 Women, 14:45 Men. The livestream will be commentated by the British presenter Marty MacDonald with former Swiss cyclo-cross champion Christian Heule as the expert at MacDonalds side.
Focus presents the MARES CX – the new cyclo-cross weapon
FOCUS isn’t just another brand to recently enter cyclo-cross; it was literally born in the mud and muck of cross. Mike Kluge, the 1992 cyclo-cross World Champion, founded the brand during the final years of his racing career. Since 1992, the brand has continued to grow and evolve, but has never strayed from its cross roots. Hanka Kupfernagel, multiple cyclo-cross World Champion, also raced aboard a FOCUS. Over the years FOCUS riders have won many championships across the globe.
Swiss pro mountain biker Florian Vogel will start in the colours of ‘FOCUS XC Team’ on the MARES CX. He is one of the Swiss riders with ambitions of a spot on the podium.
